About Just Like You

Since 2015, Variety – the Children’s Charity has been proud to deliver the Just Like You disability education and awareness program in Sydney, Newcastle, Central Coast and ACT.

Thanks to the generosity of the James Frizelle Charitable Foundation the program will be piloted across 10 Gold Coast schools across terms 2 and 3 during 2021. In addition, Just Like You workshops will be delivered in two primary schools in Brisbane in Term 3, thanks to a generous donation from the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust.

The Just Like You program has been educating primary school students on the acceptance and inclusion of people living with a disability, helping them learn that people living with a disability are the same as everyone else – they are “Just Like You”.

Variety – the Children’s Charity is dedicated to empowering Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs to live, laugh and learn. We believe that all children deserve the same opportunities in life regardless of ability or background.

The Variety Just Like You program delivers lively, interactive and compelling workshops, where students are encouraged to reflect on their own roles and actions as a citizen in their school and community.

The workshops are designed for primary school students’ specific year groups, mapped to the Australian Curriculum and can be delivered face-to-face or via digital platform.

Why we do it

We are passionate about making a difference in the lives of kids living with a disability.
